Taiping at 150: Uniting Art and Sustainability at Raintree Art Market

The year 2024 is a significant milestone for our town, Taiping, as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of its founding.
We were delighted to receive an invitation from the organizer early in the year for the Raintree Art Market, as one of the highlights you can see in the poster above.
Bits of Story
The organizing team has put a lot of effort and thought into each market, aiming to promote and highlight various aspects of our town. This makes the market more than just a place to eat and play; it serves as a cultural, artistic, and communication platform for everyone.
Below are the three main highlights of the market. We are fascinated by the artwork created by the team, which is incorporated into their marketing content such as banners, tote bags and so on.




We are pleased that we were given the largest space in the entire event, which is approximately six times bigger than a usual booth. This allow us to have more flexibility to run any kind of event according to our need to meet our goal - plastic management awareness.

The Core Focus
The plastic upcycling workshop is our top priority since our first project at Bukit Larut in 2023. We have identified the main challenge: the mindset and knowledge surrounding plastic management.
Practicality is the key element we have incorporated into our workshop content to ensure that the right messages are conveyed properly.
The 'Making Your Own Upcycled Keychain' workshop allows participants to experience the entire process, from shredding to injecting recycled plastic. This helps them understand and appreciate the importance of plastic as a resource that cannot be neglected.
